New Life Celebrated

Summer is fast approaching, and our little--well, big--Kyla is enjoying the warmer weather. With spring and warm weather comes Easter and the celebration of new life.

This year, we not only celebrated Easter, but we also celebrated a new life in the family--Kyla's soon-to-be-born cousin Oliver and his amazing parents, Jen's brother David and his wife Casey. Kyla enjoyed the festivities because it meant Grams came up a few days before the shower to help with the preparation. Then she had fun spending time with her great-aunts Sharon and Deb, too, not to mention Uncle David and Aunt Casey!

Easter weekend was spent with GranJan and GranDad, and on Saturday we stopped by an Easter festival at a church for an egg hunt, bounce houses, face painting, and petting zoo. We met Nana and Papa at the festival, and Kyla enjoyed everything except the egg hunt. She simply didn't like the large crowd, loud noises, and everyone running around! So we ended up with only two eggs--and only one had candy in it! But, on Sunday after church, we had our own egg hunt in the backyard, which Kyla really enjoyed. Leading up to Easter we also opened plastic eggs that had items that told the Easter story, and Kyla seemed to soak up the information, asking each day when we could open the next eggs. (She still asks about them on some days!)

The last part of April marked another big milestone--no, not Jen's 32nd birthday (although I guess that counts, too!). We started potty training Kyla. After about a week she began to understand the idea fairly well, and now she's still doing great. Our little baby is so grown up! Next thing you know, college--yikes!
