Disneyworld 2016
DisneyWorld is always such fun, but this year we had a fun time with a small group where we just got to focus on Kyla. GranDad and GranJan were so generous to meet us there, and we had a blast! Kyla tried every ride she was allowed to go on (based on her height). The only one she didn't really want to do again was Tower of Terror. Her favorite rides were Splash Mountain (she really liked that one!) and Thunder Mountain. She loved meeting all of the characters (except Kylo Ren--she said she wanted to see him but did not want to get close!), and did a wonderful job standing in line.

Springing Through Life
Whew, somehow winter and spring flew by, and we find ourselves in summer! Here are a few highlights from the past few (or 5) months.
In January, Jen started visiting a few elementary schools to get an idea of what we'd like to do for Kyla for kindergarten. Can't believe we only have 1 1/2 years left before she starts "big" school! We also had the kitchen cabinets remodeled, which was a stressful but eventually rewarding experience. We also helped pack some hygiene packs for an organization with our small group. and Kyla and Jen visited the Perot Museum together for a day of fun. Kyla loved the dinosaurs and the planets, and was very interested in trying to understand everything.
In February, Jeff and Kyla went to the Daddy/Daughter Dance, which Kyla loved. She danced her heart out with Dad and Katelyn (her best friend who attended with her own dad), and still talks about it today. She enjoyed a Valentine's party at school, along with Western Day, and went to parties for two of her friend's from school: Everlee (bowling), Kylie (gymnastics) and Emma (at Little Gym).
Our little girl then turned 4--yikes! She had a fun party with friends on a Friday at McDonalds--she was so excited, and every time we passed that McDonalds would talk about her party. She and her friends played so hard, got to eat a happy meal, ice cream and cake. It was so fun! Then we had a family party on Saturday, which was really fun too. We just let the kids play and we had lunch and cupcakes. It was a princess-themed party again--Kyla just loves princesses.
In March, Kyla enjoyed Dr. Seuss Day at school and dressed as the Cat in the Hat. She also went to more school friends' parties, including Eva's (at her house) and Reese's (at the park). We also celebrated a baby shower for Casey and baby Emery in Wimberly. All spring Jen and Kyla attended MOPS, which was always fun for Kyla and a great mini-getaway for Jen. We also all went to the Arboretum to enjoy the tulips, thanks to our annual pass.
In April, Kyla went to Ava's birthday (at her house) and we hosted a baby shower for Ann and Chad for baby Charis. And then we went to DisneyWorld for almost a week, where we met GranJan and GranDad. See another post for details about that trip. We also traveled to Houston to watch Andrew play a spring football game at UH, and then another weekend went to Houston to visit Grams and G-Dad (where we went to a spring outdoor festival).
May flew by too, with a remodel for Kyla's bathroom, and a trip to Oklahoma to celebrate Brian and Chelsea adopting Paris & Tiana and their birthdays.
This spring, Kyla has seemed to grow up so much, with the way she talks, the way she thinks ahead and can understand so much, and just how she tries to reason things out. Of course that also means she thinks she knows everything, which she'll tell you! So we're always working on that attitude. Kyla's favorite thing to do right now is to color, paint and do crafts. She will do that for quite a while all by herself, coloring page after page or using glue and scissors to create things. She has also gotten into her trains again, really liking the Thomas train we bought her and the other Thomas trains Rita, Gigi and Mia bought her. Kyla is also very athletic, and has taught herself how to do cartwheels and jump rope.

O Christmas Tree
The holidays went by in a flash, but we had a nice time enjoying the season. Kyla also had a Christmas recital with a nutcracker theme that was very fun to watch. For Christmas, Kyla saw two Santas and asked both for a firetruck. She received her wish and then some...some of the big hits were a train set (which she also asked for), Wild Kratts gear (her favorite TV show), and soccer goals. We had a great time with family, even though medical issues with Jeff had us a bit stressed.
