From Sun and Sand to Cold and Snow

Kyla and Jen took a winter trip to Vero Beach, Florida, with Jeff's parents for some much-needed R&R and simply a change of scenery. Unfortunately Jeff was stuck at work--he was sorely missed!

Traveling with a toddler is never easy, but Kyla did exceptionally well with only one minor crying fit on the plane ride home. It was understandable after a long day sitting in the car, in the stroller, and on two plane flights. Overall though, she enjoyed the trip and stayed entertained thanks to technology and treats!

At the beach, Kyla never fully warmed up to walking on the sand or getting anywhere near the waves. As long as we stayed about 20 feet or more away from the water and kept her water shoes on, she was a happy camper. She loved digging in the sand, and we built many sand castles. She could often be seen carrying around two fist-fulls of sand, just because she could. And of course she loved all of the attention from GranJan and GranDad. And Jen certainly enjoyed that attention too, which gave her time to read two complete books!

Then we came back to below-freezing temps and snow! What a week!
